Consider a business hotel replacing its complete network.
The old installation contains one hundred twenty D Link access points, twenty DGS managed switches, eight PoE switches, two VPN routers, and several network racks.
The first spreadsheet describes the entire inventory as D Link network equipment.
That information is not sufficient.
The IT team records every access point model.
Switches are separated by port count and PoE capability.
SFP modules are counted.
Mounting brackets are packed with access points.
Damaged equipment receives its own category.
The hotel now has a much clearer view of the remaining equipment value.
This is an educational composite example based on common network upgrade projects and is not presented as a named customer transaction.
